Elijah Counselling and Training Center (ECTC) is committed to protecting the personal information we collect from you, whether you are a prayer supporter, financial supporter, fundraiser, volunteer or just visiting our website to discover more about ECTC. This Privacy Policy relates to all the personal information we collect from you via phone, email, online (website and social media), letters and other correspondence and sets out how we obtain the information, use it and protect it.

ECTC values the goodwill and trust of our supporters and are committed to protecting your personal information. Whenever you give us this information, ECTC is legally obliged to use your information in line with all applicable laws relating to the protection of personal information including the Data Protection Act 2018 (referred to as the data protection laws within this policy).

This privacy policy explains the following:

We cannot accept any responsibility or liability for the privacy practices of such third party websites and you use the third party websites at your own risk.

 

Who is ECTC?

Elijah Counselling and Training Centre is a Nonprofit making organization, registered under the Social Welfare Council. ECTC has been working in the field of mental health since 2010. ECTC is engaged in delivering Psychosocial Counselling services and imparting training for strengthening human resources in the field of mental health.  It is committed to high-quality Training and Counselling services, with the aim to build a community of psychologically and socially stable people, in all kinds of settings.

 

What information will ECTC collect about me?

ECTC may receive and retain personal information when you make a donation, register for an event, sign up for updates or newsletters, for you telephone or email or write to ECTC, or engage with ECTC through social media channels. This may consist of information such as your name, postal address, email address, phone number (landline and/or mobile), and whether your tax payment status enables ECTC to claim Gift Aid on your donation.

We do not usually collect ‘sensitive personal details’ such as health status, or any other personal information, unless there is a clear reason to do so – such as access requirements to an ECTC event. It will be clear on any booking form why we are asking for this information.

If you browse the ECTC website anonymously, ECTC may collect certain information from you such as your IP address, which uniquely identifies a computer or other network device on the internet.

If you enter contact details on a contact form but don’t submit that form, ECTC may still collect your information but will only use that information to contact you to help solve any problems you may have been experiencing with the form or our website.

ECTC may also use publicly available post code related consumer information to identify people who may be interested in philanthropic support of ECTC’s work or in being a public ambassador for ECTC. Where such a relationship develops the ECTC management, or other nominated staff member, will agree sensitivities with regard to any personal information that ECTC may obtain.

 

Cookie Policy

We collect data using cookies. A cookie is an alphanumeric text file that is sent from a website and stored on your computer’s hard drive by your web browser. Cookies allow a website to remember who you are, so that when you visit again it recognizes you as a visitor and can help you with personalized information when filling out forms or signing in. Most browsers allow you to turn off the cookie function. To do this, look at the help menu on your browser.

We use cookies to track popular points of entry to our sites and routes around areas of our sites (i.e. click paths). We also use the Meta pixel to gather data about visits to our website, which may be used to deliver relevant website content and advertisements to you (including Facebook adverts and other display adverts). As with other statistics about visitors to our sites, this tracking is anonymous and aggregate and does not relate to any information we might hold about individuals.

We use websites such as YouTube to share our films. Some of our pages also contain embedded content from other such websites, and as such you may receive cookies delivered from these websites.

We may collect IP addresses to obtain aggregate information on the use of this website, i.e. to find out how we are doing or from which countries visitors to our site are coming from. An IP address is a number assigned to your computer by a web server when you are on the web. We only use the information we find out from tracking IP addresses in the aggregate, such as how many users entered a specific area of our site, and not to track a specific IP address to identify an individual user. However, we may use such information to identify a user if we feel that there are or may be safety and/or security issues, or to comply with legal requirements.

 

How will ECTC use the information it collects about me?

By submitting your details to ECTC you enable ECTC to raise funds and provide you with information, online content, and activities you select.

The ways that ECTC will use your personal information includes:

  • To understand your preferred format (paper/email/online content) for receiving information about ECTC’s work.
  • To provide you with information which you have not opted out of receiving.
  • Contact you about ways to support ECTC’s work that we believe might be relevant to you.
  • For internal record keeping, and where there is a legal requirement.
  • To contact you about any information you provide.
  • To fulfil event bookings you have entered into with ECTC.
  • For relevant opportunities to engage with ECTC through giving of time, or financial support, where there is legitimate interest.
  • To ask you to participate in any surveys about our work or the way we contact you.
  • To use IP addresses to identify the location, including the country, of users, to block disruptive and fraudulent users.
  • To analyze and improve the navigation and content offered on the ECTC website to provide you with the most user-friendly experience and to tailor our communications with you to match your specific interests. We may use the information in aggregate (so that no individuals are identified) for strategic development and supporter engagement purposes.
  • To analyse trends and personalise offers that we believe are relevant to you based on your previous interactions.
  • Your address will be checked with publicly available lists to ensure your address is still valid or to update your details if you have moved.

 

Will ECTC share my personal information with anyone else?

ECTC will only use your information for the purposes it was obtained. ECTC will not share or sell your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes and you will not receive offers from other companies or organizations as a result of ECTC collecting your personal information.

We may need to share your information with data processors or service providers who help us to prepare materials relating to our work such as fundraising appeals and other communications. The data processors will only act in accordance with our instructions and they will not be allowed to use your data for their own purposes. They undertake to keep your data secure.

We will also comply with disclosure requests required or permitted by law, such as government departments for tax purposes.

Offensive or inappropriate content placed on the ECTC website

If you post or send inappropriate, offensive or objectionable content anywhere on the ECTC website, social media pages or to the ECTC offices, or engage in any behavior which is disruptive to the ECTC service, we may use your personal information to stop you doing this.

Where we think you may be in breach of any law of Nepal, such as defamation or discrimination, we may use your personal information to notify relevant third parties such as your email/social media platform/internet provider, the police or other law enforcement agency about your behavior and the content.

 

How long will ECTC keep my personal information?

We will hold your information on our systems for as long as is necessary for the relevant activity, such as a record of your donations for 7 years. In some instances, there is a legal requirement to hold some personal information for a set period of time.

If you ask ECTC to stop sending you fundraising materials we will keep a record of your contact details and the information necessary to ensure we comply with your communication preferences.

We may keep some of your personal information indefinitely in order to carry out legacy administration and communicate effectively with the families of people leaving us legacies. Legacies are an important source of income enabling us to continue to fund ECTC work.

 

How can I update, correct or delete my data held by ECTC?

The accuracy of your personal information is really important to us and we want to ensure that we communicate with you in ways that you are happy with.

Changes to our Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to make changes to this Privacy Policy, so please check back periodically for changes. You will be able to see that changes have been made by checking to see the effective date posted at the end of the policy.

If INF/UK elects to use or disclose information that identifies you as an individual in a manner that is materially different from that stated in our policy at the time we collected that information from you, we will give you a choice regarding such use or disclosure by appropriate means, which may include use of an opt out mechanism.

It is due to be reviewed again in April 2026.
